Castilla De Luna is a beautiful and luxurious Andalucia villa set in the heart of the local countryside near Casares. As you enter through the gates and drive up the private driveway, you are immediately struck by the beauty and tranquility of the thickly wooded hillside and stunning mountain views.
The villa was designed by award-winning architect Aubrey David, and the gardens have been landscaped by the previous owner, a professional botanist, to give beautiful year round colour. The main house covered with blooming bougainvillea is stunning.
As you make your way into the house, there a is Moroccan-style terrace with comfortable easy chairs for relaxing and enjoying an evening drink. The first room you enter is large kitchen equipped to a very high standard, which is perfect for entertaining and cooking for a large group.
The kitchen leads into the living area, with its high wood-beamed ceilings giving it a spacious but intimate feel. There is a wood burner for cosy evenings in watching DVDs or Sky on the 44" flat screen, surround-sound TV. There is a snug area at the other end of the lounge and a dining room adjacent to the living area suitable for group dining.
Another large terrace opens out from the living room with comfortable seating and stunning views out across the pool and gardens. And from here stairs lead up to a second Moroccan style terrace, once again with magnificent views, perfect to watch the sun set in the late Spanish evenings.
Further on from the dining room you find the stunning master bedroom, with its super king-sized bed and an attractive semi-open en-suite luxury bathroom with bath and walk-in shower. There is also a dressing room and a private terrace.
From the living room, stairs lead down to a lower floor where there are two more bedrooms. One is twin bedded (with TV/DVD), the other features another super king-sized double bed. Both have their own walk in shower rooms and private terraces. Also on this lower floor there is a wine cellar, and a very attractive and atmospheric Moroccan reading room, complete with original Arabic door and furnishings.
Immaculate gardens, orchards, even a mini football pitch (complete with trampoline) surround the villa. The 15 metre diameter circular swimming pool, is luxurious, with quality sun beds to relax and take in the glorious Andalucian weather.
A few steps away from the pool, there is an open air conservatory, furnished with cane sofas underneath a stunning Moroccan lamp. This area has a dining table for six and a kitchen area equipped with fridge, perfect for alfresco dining. There is subtle night lighting, which illuminates the pool and gardens, adding ambiance for the evening barbecues (gas or charcoal).
Behind the pool house is a self contained apartment with a large living room, a double bedroom and a twin bedroom with luxurious walk-in shower. Ideal for a second family to enjoy a little privacy. From the verandah more stunning views.
The 10,000m2 estate (completely fenced) is a rural haven of luxury from the stresses of modern life. There is horse riding available only 200 meters from the gates offering riding across the valley. Costa Del Sol is only a 15 minute drive away, and Marbella – with its famous restaurants and night life – is only a 40 minutes away. To experience the true flavour of the Andalucian way of life, then drive only 15 minutes inland to the ‘pueblo blanco’ of Casares and visit the Friday market, take a stroll up to the remains of the Moorish castle, and watch Griffon vultures soar overhead.
Top Quality golf courses (including Valderrama, Sotogrande, and San Roque ) are within 30 minutes drive, and Finca Cortesin, a five star golf and spa resort which recently hosted the Volvo Masters Matchplay Championships, is less than 10 minutes away.
The villa is reached by a fairly rough track, so you might want to consider hiring a 4x4 vehicle (although the locals manage OK in just about any car). Also at owners request no smoking is allowed in the villa.
