Holiday Villa Rental
Casa Altamira is a beautiful and tranquil holiday villa nestled in the mountainside just a few kms from Casares, with stunning panoramic views over the mountains of 'Penos Blancas' and surrounding countryside. This 3-bedroom house sleeps 6 and has lovely feel to it and includes all modern amenities such as Wi-Fi and Satellite TV.
As you walk through the gates, there is a beautifully landscaped garden and terrace with a bougainvillea covered pergola leading to a lovely water feature with original olive mill stone wheel, which creates a lovely cool, trickling sound throughout the hot summer. There are 3 separate terrace areas to relax, enjoy a glass of rosé and soak up the ambience of the campo (countryside and mountains).
There is a very pleasant outside dining area, shaded by an old cork tree, which comfortably seats six people and is perfect for ‘al fresco’ dining – with a barbecue supplied on the terrace. Later sit back relax on one of the outdoor sofas or chairs, and listen to the wonderful choruses of the cicadas chirping in the surrounding pine and olive trees.
Inside the fresh and airy living area, there are large sofas to relax and read or perhaps watch some UK TV – the perfect home from home! There are a number of beautiful canvases painted by a local artist, which look stunning on the white walls of the lounge area. The homely wooden table and chairs provide indoor seating for six people, and French doors open out to a small balcony with yet more stunning views.
The well-equipped kitchen (washing machine, dishwasher, oven, gas hob, microwave) is very well stocked (the owner leaves all dried herbs spices, cookery books etc), and is absolutely perfect for preparing delicious meals. The master bedroom (double bed) is on the same upper floor and has superb views over the mountains, with French doors that open out onto another small balcony. The en-suite bathroom has a walk in shower.
Stairs that lead down to the 2 further bedrooms. The first bedroom has 2 single beds with a bathroom next door, with both bath and overhead shower. This bedroom has French doors that lead out to the wooden decking that surrounds the house and leads you to the swimming pool. The second bedroom with double bed has its own en-suite bathroom with a walk in shower, and French doors leading straight out to the beautiful swimming pool area.
The swimming pool has stunning valley and mountain views, and is surrounded by a lush green Spanish palm and cactus garden. There is also a shaded area by the to the house to retreat to for a little respite from the summer sun.
The house is easily accessible via a 2km track from the main Casares road, although probably wise to watch out for local shepherd Salvador, with his goats and dogs, who is often in the area.
The charming ‘pueblo blanco’ of Casares is only a 10 minute drive away, where you can relax over drinks and tapas, or explore the maze of narrow streets that wind their way up to the castle overlooking the village. The coast with beach bars and cafes, also only a 15 minute drive. Marbella is a 45-minute drive with everything it has to offer, and Tarifa and the Atlantic coast with its many miles of stunning golden beaches is just over an hour away in the opposite direction.
This is a perfect Andalucia holiday villa to escape to from the madding crowd, but still easy enough to find things to do if you’re feeling more adventurous. There are several excellent restaurants within a few kms of the house.
